Sadly missing the debate on #AssistedDying @HouseofCommons today as
have long-standing Hexham commitments.
But am clear we need to change the law + have consistently voted for @dignityindying
Have a read of my article on why:

I have no doubt the #AssistedSuicide law will eventually change in UK - as it is changing elsewhere. I well remember walking through the voting lobby with @Ed_Miliband discussing how it requires leaders of medics, churches + communities to see things differently

After the last vote I gave this interview to my #Hexham paper .... and since then #doctors, #church + community leaders have come to me urging a law change hexham-courant.co.uk/news/16626219.…

But at all times this is an unwhipped free vote. Many MP colleagues have legitimate reasons to oppose. If you want to know my views on free vote issues from gay marriage to stem cell research (strongly in favour) abortion law change (against) etc go here: guyopperman.co.uk/campaigns-and-…

Final thoughts on #AssistedDying debate
- we have 1 law for the rich ... who can afford £10k + to travel to #Switzerland
- 1 law for the rest who can’t do this and who die in a manner not of their own choosing
Not acceptable
