Perhaps the single biggest thing you can do to close the maternal health gap is make sure all Black women are insured.

We also must ensure Black women are receiving patient-centered care, which is why this campaign has committed to fully funding HBCUs, which graduate a disproportionate number of Black Drs, & also providing student debt relief so they can afford to practice in low income hospitals
It's also why Bernie Sanders and Rep. Clyburn found $12 bn for vulnerable community health centers.

Another factor in the maternal health disparity? "Social determinants" -- largely class factors like having a low income and the stress of poverty and racism.
A living wage will literally help us live.
These things are connected. It's neither either or, but both.
Finally, Bernie's Medicare for All plan creates an Office of Primary Health to figure out how to increase access to care, including how to train the workforce we need to address these disparities.
