The beauty of photography is that it allows us to relive memories that we cherish forever and with a camera always in my pocket, I’m able to capture so many. In celebration of #WorldPhotographyDay, I want to share some tricks I use to capture the perfect #ShotoniPhone photo.

1. Light is the most important element when taking a picture. I love natural light during the early hours of the morning or during sunset the way the sun tilts and shines its light at that time creates depth and perfect shadows, giving a touch of magic to the pictures.

2. Noticing details is a fundamental task that is completely yours. Being observant and providing value to each element, such as textures, colors, shadows, expressions and movements, will take your photos to the next level.

3. Don’t forget to consider framing before taking a photo. Center the elements or find a focal point using the rule of thirds. Activating the grid in Settings is helpful.

4. Dare to try new things with your iPhone and use the available tools to modify light, contrast, or colors. When you are taking a photo, think of what makes it special. Do not be afraid to get closer, crouch, or even lay down to achieve what you envision.

5. Take as many pictures as you’d like wherever you may find yourself. If something catches your eye, capture it. Many moments will never happen again.

6. Become familiar with the tools in the iPhone Camera app like exposure, frame, focus, timer, HDR, and Live Photos. Do not be afraid to zoom. The power of the lens on your iPhone may surprise you.

7. Follow a new route to work. Walk through parks, museums and other places you’ve never seen. You may discover a brand new perspective. One of my main sources of inspiration is exploring things out of my comfort zone that change the way I see things.

8. The @AppStore offers countless apps to help take your photo to the next level. For me, Snapseed and VSCO assist me in making the right adjustments in order to get the tones and colors I like in my photos.
