In the 1990s on #HeyArnold, I designed Stinky's house, a rustic rural home sandwiched between urban buildings.
A few years ago, I helped design the main house for #BigCityGreens.
Same concept. Different eras.
The quality of backgrounds has really increased in the digital age.
I drew that scene of Stinky’s house on 12 field animation paper with an HB pencil.
It was then transferred to illustration board at the same size before being painted in acrylics.
The pencil drawing was photocopied onto a clear animation cel.
It was hinged to the top to the paint board and carefully registered to the underdrawing.
Then the background was painted.
When finished, the cel was flipped down so the pencil lines showed up on the final art.
Stinky's house I designed in one afternoon. It's a minor location in only a couple episodes.
The Big City Greens house was a collaborative effort because it's a primary location.
I came in at a middle stage of development and gave it some story-centric details.
One is white with red accents.
One is red with white accents.
Both have green doors.

I found this other shot online of Stinky's house.
It's not a drawing I did. The style makes me think this is early, probably season one.
I likely took this as a base from which to design the more fleshed out version later in the series (seen at the top of this thread).
