People - get over this #realestate as an investment thing. The stock market? Psshw, so 20th century. The next "big growth asset class" is #fineart (according to these sponsor ads in a daily sports newsletter I get). This thread shows how you've been missing out like a sucker. /1
Loved that recession-proof insinuation above. Like fine art collectors don't care about no stinking recession. Buy! Buy! Buy! (This sounds similar to the baseball card boom of the early '90s) /2
Here's the same S&P stat but with colour. I love how they're still calling it an "asset class" to make it sound more legitimate. The office supplies on my desk are an "asset class" too. (I'd love to show that animated Microsoft paperclip guy everyone hated about now.) /3
Look - a chart! And they double-down on the legitimacy thing by calling it "Blue-chip" Artwork, and talking about / showing it in the same sentence / chart as the S&P 500. /4
Article was paywalled so I didn't read. But I checked the How It Works section of the site. The SEC circular sounds kind of official. Then you buy a share in an artwork. All sounds kind of illiquid to me - but prob better than RE😉 /5
