Dr Elena Frid talking about autoimmune encephalitis #Lyme disease. Neuroborreliosis Neuro-Lyme. #LivLymeSummit @liv_lyme

@liv_lyme Frid | Neuro Lyme is very difficult to diagnose as lumbar puncture is often false-negative. Lyme is a great imitator. Patients are often misdiagnosed with psychiatric illness. Children often misdiagnosed with ADD/ADHD, Autism, OCD, learning disabilities. #LivLymeSummit

@liv_lyme Frid | Lyme complicated by prevalence of co-infections per @Lymenews (32% babesia, 28% bartonella, 15% ehrlichia, 15% mycoplasma...) She is seeing much higher rate of co-infection in her practice. #LivLymeSummit About Lyme Disease Co-Infections lymedisease.org/lyme-basics/co…

Frid | say glia cells are primarily driver in #Lyme autoimmune encephalitis. EEG’s often non-diagnostic. Brain SPECT slightly better. #LivLymeSummit

Frid | As we are able to show infection as a trigger for psych illness, the entire profession of psychiatry is going to change over the next few years. In her practice 20-60% of patients have refractory symptoms despite treatment for Lyme, require longer treatment. #LivLymeSummit

Frid @ElenaFridMD | for clinicians these are the anti-neuronal antibiotics to order. Also Cunningham panel. #LivLymeSummit @liv_lyme

Frid @ElenaFridMD | Studies show that patients treated for longer period do have improvement in symptoms. She will add IVIG for patients w/ neuro Lyme. Dosing & duration. #LivLymeSummit
