I've been trying to have social media-free holiday but I've read too many great pieces about Africa, #feminism & women's rights not
to share!

So here's Eyala's last #SundayRead of the year (and decade!). Hope you enjoy reading these as much as I did.

2019 has been the year of fear. Crippling doubt has led me to hit pause on Eyala for months, until a few weeks ago when I decided to just do it and see what happens. If not for this piece by @stillSHErises, I would never had admitted it here. Thank you J.

Might just be #FOMO but with all the pics from #YearOftheReturn on my feeds, I've wondered why everyone (I follow) was posting about parties and nothing else. Then I read @AfroKwabena's take on the many opportunities #Ghana missed this year.

A few days ago when someone here sneeringly demanded that @OhTimehin to define 'woman', I sucked my teeth and went back to my life. But Timehin turned that interaction into this excellent piece and I just have to stan.

I love you Timehin!

There's something about @monaeltahawy - her triumphant words, her defiant eye maybe - that makes me want to shout "FUCK THE PATRIARCHY" until my lungs hurt. Read her great interview with @LeilaEttachfini for @VICE about her #feminist vision.

I have more to share but the view from my Morocco vacation spot 👇🏾 is calling me outside (so are my kids, tbh).

Wishing you beautiful #AfriFem souls the most joyful of holidays. See you in 2020, when I'll ignore the fear and shame and go all in with Eyala. Can't wait!
