2019 carries special significance to people of HK. #HKers are all awakened from our ordinary lives and search for justice. We stand up tall to reclaim our city, which is now nibbled by the authoritarian regime. Just a few hours before #NewYear2020, it will be a tough year for us.
When our education minister just put pressure on schools to fire all “problematic” teachers. Teaching materials are now censored. A pregnant lady was badly treated even before #NewYearsEve, and more prosecutions are on the way.
But in newyear, I see hope in HKers & other freedom lovers of the world. HKers do not fight alone. This is a global fight against the authoritarian expansion of CCP worldwide. We don’t want basic freedoms, human rights & democratic systems fall prey to #beijing’s manipulation.
Just as Martin Luther King Jr. said, "The ultimate tragedy isn’t oppression & cruelty by the bad people but the silence over that by the good people.” #HKers have chosen to give a resounding no to Beijing’s oppression, & we will continue our cause for democracy in #NewYear2020.
