1/7 Curated list of 3,500+ government #ArcGIS server addresses. All links tested once per week and bad links fixed or flagged. These are ArcGIS servers, not 'portals'.

2/7 @server Admins: If my list says “not https” or “SSL problem” then you can fix that with a free SSL certificate from letsencrypt.org. My domains use these. The “SSL problem” tag in the curated server list means Firefox found something wrong with your SSL certificate.
3/7 To find data quickly on an ArcGIS try a Google advanced search. For example, to find trail layers search on:
trails site:____
Replace the underline with an ArcGIS server address.
4/7 There is a *beta* version of #GISsurfer v2.0 (I am developer) that lets anyone surf ArcGIS servers almost as easily as you surf the internet. No GIS savvy required! Curious? Start here:

5/7 Finishing GISsurfer v2.0 is temporarily on hold while I scour my curated server list for data to produce state legislature maps colored by party affiliation. Map links are on this webpage. Open any map and click “Map tips” for info.

6/7 If you are curious where the layers are coming from for any legislature map, then notice that each map link has the address for a txt file. That txt file specifies the GIS layers the map can display. Copy *just* the address for the txt file and paste it into a browser.
7/7 Don’t see a colored political district map for your state? I would love to do one! Can you help with the data? I need:
1. ArcGIS MapServer layers with the current legislative boundaries
2. Support for dynamic layers
3. An attribute with party affiliation
