Two recent editions by #Haydar_al_Hirz of polemics between the two branches of the #Shaykhiyya #MirzaBaqirUskui (d. 1884) against #MuhammadKarimKhanKermani (d. 1871) 1/
The #Shaykhiyya or perhaps rather the followers of #ShaykhAhmad_alAhsai (d. 1826) and then his successor in #Karbala #SayyidKazimRashti (d. 1843) split into two groups that polemically attacked each other 2/
Both were Persophone - one group settled around the Qajar notable #MuhammadKarimKhanKermani and his family and his major work #al_Fusul 3/
#Kermani family retained the leadership of the Kerman branch until the revolution in 1979 when it transferred to the #Musawis in #Basra and the #AlAbuAmir 4/
iranicaonline.org/articles/shayk… is a useful overall discussion 5/
The other major branch in #Tabriz was led by #Thiqat_al_Islam_Mamaqani (d. 1884) but also the #Uskui later known as the #Ihqaqi family who moved their centre of activities in the 20th century to #Kuwait 6/
A third branch developed in the 1880s in #Hamadan led by #MuhammadBaqirSharifTabatabai (d. 1901) but it seems to have been short lived and not survived 7/
The Uskui family have dominated a more mainstream form of #Shaykhiyya who do not stress their differences from the wider #TwelverShii communities and especially through their #Hasawi networks in #KSA and #Kuwait strongly support traditional #Shii commemorations globally 8/
The Uskui family claimed the mantle of #Rashti through #MirzaHasanGawhar with #MirzaBaqir (d. 1884) who was followed by his son #MirzaMusa (d. 1945) the most important scholar of the family whose work #Ihqaq_al_haqq let to the new name #Ihqaqi 9/
He was succeeded by his brother #MirzaHasan (d. 2001) and his son #MirzAbdalRasul (d. 2003) whose manual of law became the sourcebook for #Shaykhis in the Tabriz/Karbala branch and then his son #MirzaAbdullah 11/
The succession since 2003 has been disputed by #MirzaKamal (b. 1964) the son of #MirzaAli who is based in #Kuwait (while #MirzaAbdullah is in Tehran) 12/
