@DrIbram That's why we're starting #BlackHistoryMonth2020 by putting out the start of an antiracist policy agenda that focuses on four policy areas:

@DrIbram Pay everyone fairly for all the work they do. That means raising the #minimumwage and protecting working people from #wagetheft.
@DrIbram Help everyone build financial security: That means stronger consumer protections so people don't fall prey to predatory lenders.
@DrIbram Make college affordable for everyone: So everyone has a chance to pursue higher education without going into crippling debt.
@DrIbram Make sure everyone is counted in the 2020 Census: So that all communities get the resources they need to be strong, vibrant and healthy.
@DrIbram Why are these antiracist policies?
Bc, years and years of racist and race-neutral policies have led to employers paying Black people less, predatory lenders targeting Black borrowers and Black students having a harder time affording college.
@DrIbram Not to mention the extremely racist history of the #Census (3/5 compromise, anyone?)
So join us this month as we explore these policies and think more deeply about what it means to be an antiracist.
@DrIbram And FYI: Clearly these 4 policies would never be the sum total of all that's needed to truly put forward an antiracist agenda. But we wanted to start the conversation. Much more work needs to be done. #BlackHistoryMonth2020 #BlackFutureMonth
