The shrine of #alAbbas in #Karbala is arguably the largest publisher in Iraq and editing many significant works of #ShiiTheology - this commentary on a classic textbook of #’Allama_Hilli is by an 18th C #Safi_al_Din_al_Turayhi 1/

The base for the edition is this manuscript from the collection of #KashifulGhita 2/

The manuscript is dated 11 Ramadan 1121/1709 and a digital copy is preserved in #ImamalHakim library in #Najaf 3/

#SafialDin was the son of the famous lexicographer #FakhralDin who wrote #Majma’__al_bahrayn and one manuscript of that text is in the hand of the son dated Safar 1077/1666 4/

The original text of #Hilli was famously gloss by #MiqdadalSiyuri and the widely used edition of the text by #MehdiMohaghegh includes the gloss books.rafed.net/m/?type=c_fboo… 5/

#SafialDin explains that he wrote the work because it is incumbent on a believer to have a rational and reflective grasp on the theological foundations of worship and practice #ShiiTheology 6/

As one expects in such texts the longest chapter is on the Imamate 7/

first chapter on the proof for the existence of God draws upon the philosophical theological tradition from #Tusi #Tajrid_al_itiqad and #Avicenna #NecessaryExistence using both the proof from contingency as well as the impossibility of #InfiniteRegress of causes 8/
