A shout-out to the amazing womxn who made this march possible! #AuratMarch2020

March 8, 2020. Sunday.
Womxn of Lahore marched for their rights. It didn't matter where we came from or who we were, we were all out on the streets and we were together. #AuratMarch2020

Our next generation marched with us, smiling and laughing as they fought against patriarchy. #AuratMarch2020

Our older generation marched with us, proudly taking a stand. #AuratMarch2020

We didn't just march but we rebelled, against patriarchy, against this society, against our own backgrounds to march for out rights! #AuratMarch2020

We marched with our mothers, our fathers, our sisters, our brothers, we marched with our families. #AuratMarchIslamabad

We raised our flags and banners and voices to mark our presence. #AuratMarch2020

We expressed ourselves in the way we felt comfortable. #AuratMarch2020

We expressed our message in the way that would make our generation engage in a conversation; memes. #AuratMarch2020

We raised our posters which shook everyone. #AuratMarch2020

We had questions to ask, we demanded answers. #AuratMarch2020

We marched for the women and kids who had to suffer. #AuratMarch2020

We marched for those who can't march. #AuratMarch2020

@itsmeeshashafi we marched for you! ❤️

We remember the struggles of the ones before us, we hold their banners even today. #AuratMarch2020

1: Girls learn to breathe from the soil (dust)
Yet they grow up to become dust storms (that are powerful)

2: A daughter from punjab once wept/cried, (Ref: Heer) you wrote so much of sorrow about it
Today lacs of daughters are crying, asking for waris shah (to speak from graves)

We Remember. #AuratMarch2020

So we march and shout on the top of our lungs! #AuratMarch2020

We shout loud enough for everyone to listen! #AuratMarch2020

We sang and chanted for our freedom. #AuratMarch2020

"Rapist is you!" we chanted protesting violence against women and kids. #AuratMarch2020

We even held the placards high! #AuratMarch2020

We made art that history will remember! #AuratMarch2020

We even used humour hoping to make a point. #AuratMarch2020

The thread does not end here. I accidentally tweeted the rest as a reply instead of continuing the thread.

We all marched together, we all marched as one! #AuratMarch2020

We marched for our economic rights! #AuratMarch2020

We marched so no woman has to depend on anyone for financial support. #AuratMarch2020

Our demand were for all despite the cast, sect, or religion. #AuratMarch2020

We raised our voice against the harassment we face every day for being a Womxn. #AuraMarch2020

After years of being silent, we had a lot to say. #AuratMarch2020

And we didn't hold back! #AuratMarch2020

Mera Jism, Meri marzi. We owned the phrase. #AuratMarch2020

We stood up against what we're told to lock ourselves up for! #AuratMarch2020

We marched like a GIRL! #AuratMarch2020

We marched ahead as they supported us! #AuratMarch2020

We marched ahead and they marched with us. #AuratMarch2020

It was the day we all got united to fight! #AuratMarch2020

We honoured the theme of this year, Khudmukhtari (autonomy) and violence, both sexual and economic #AuratMarch2020

We all had our stories to share, traumas to heal, voices to be heard. #AuratMarch2020

Nobody can tell us what to protest for or how, they don't know what we've been through. #AuratMarch2020

It was a day when we stood up for each other just like womenfolk have always done before! #AuratMarch2020

It's a long thread. I'm sorry. Continued:

Thank you to all the womxn who marched with us and those who couldn't, thank you for your support.

Closing this thread with a picture of me with these amazing women officers at the end of the day!
