For a lot of non-army people who don't know, NCB stands for non-combat bearer or non-combat batman which is why we often hear the term batman as well.
Here's a little history lesson about this role: It's a term that was used by the British for a soldier in the army assigned to an officer as a personal servant. The word is derived from the obsolete bat which means sack paddle, a device that was strapped behind an animal for carrying heavy objects.

Rewatching Twilight as an adult and realizing how much sexual frustration there is between the characters considering the age gap between them.

Someone should do a study on the effects on the generation that was obsessed with it. I mean Edward is 109 years old. Bella is 18. Jacob is 16. And Renesmee is just a baby when Jacob imprints on her.

So messed up.

A thread of Pakistani films banned in Pakistan: 1. Jago Hua Savera (1959) - a drama film directed by A. J. Kardar based on the struggles of a poor fishing village in former East Pakistan. Just days before the premier, the government of Pakistan halted the release. It was a joint production of East and West Pakistan.

2 years ago, when I left Pakistan, Zindagi Tamasha was banned under similar labels of "indecency and immorality".

2 years later, Joyland is being censored with the same tactics.

It's heartbreaking to see that things haven't changed a bit, probably just gotten worse. As a filmmaker, I feel absolutely gutted. I hope to witness a day when art and culture are celebrated in Pakistan. When filmmakers don't have to hide themselves and their work. When we can accept and enjoy the diversity of this country and its stories.

On Sep 9, 2020 a woman, travelling on motorway, was robbed and raped in front of her two kids in Pakistan. It shook the whole nation. Protests were arranged and officials jumped in front of the cameras to make promises. Not again, they said. A few days before, on Sep 1, 2020 a 14-year-old boy went missing in Faisalabad. His body was found in the fields near Faisalabad’s Liaquatabad Road. He was raped and murdered by the neighbour.

I see a lot of people saying "don't settle for abusive marriages" and "take a stand and walk out".

I know it is important to normalize the concept of leaving abusive households but we have done nothing to make it easier for the women who are suffering. First of all, it takes A LOT, for a victim to identify and accept that the behavior they are subjected to is abusive. It's not always black and white for women who are financially, emotionally, and even physically dependent on men because that is where society has placed them.

Hindu community was largely settled around Rawal Road after partition and had several temples and shamshan ghaats. Over years the land was taken away from them and temples were destroyed. Even the temple in Saidpur was converted into a tourist spot, not allowing Hindus to use it. The Shamshaan Ghaat near Murree Road has been violated too. Due to taller buildings around, the area has to be covered with security every time there is a funeral because people take pictures or videos from rooftops. Neighbors also complain about the smell from the rituals.

There have always been problematic male teachers who try to be too friendly specially with females students, acting like their age, trying to attract young girls, harassing them, abusing their authority, and they always get away with it. Young girls are the most at risk because growing up in this society, validation from a grown up who is supposed to be a mentor matters a lot. They believe that a teacher notices them and their work so they must be a better student. After all our whole education system is a race.

This quarantine period has to be the worst time for my mental health because staying busy was my coping mechanism. I'd always shut away my problems by distracting myself with work, sometimes more than I could handle. That is how I always functioned. But I can't do that anymore. I have all this time to myself and everything that I shut away, all the childhood trauma, the abuse, the depression, anxiety, pain, everything is coming back to haunt me.
