Press is on a conference call with state leaders now to discuss the "stay-at-home" order from @GovInslee. I will tweet updates in this thread. #q13fox #Coronavirus
Governor's chief of staff says order was in the works for several days. They were in touch with cities, counties, labor, to figure out specifics. List of essential workers took time.
.@RachelAPOly asked about general construction workers and whether they're essential (Amazon buildings, arena, affordable housing). Answer was unclear. The belief is that "essential" construction would only apply to things like hospitals, etc. Will follow up when we have clarity.
A little more clarity on the construction front: "Critical strategic infrastructure" construction allowed. And "essential projects" or emergency repairs.
Governor's chief of staff says the initial two-week "stay-at-home" order can be extended. They will look at these things to make that decision:
-Case counts. Are they going up still?
-Stress on healthcare system
On enforcement of "stay-at-home" order: @wastatepatrol Chief says: "The goal isn't to make arrests, it's about educating the community about staying safe and healthy." Violating the order can be a gross misdemeanor.
.@GovInslee chief of staff adds that "If we get continued reports about gatherings, I don't doubt for a second that (the governor) is going to ask for some enforcement of that ... I wouldn't be at all surprised if law enforcement starts dispersing groups." #q13fox #Coronavirus
