A major political scandal brewing in Washington state. The head of our elections, a Democrat, says the leading Democrat in the race for governor, AG Bob Ferguson, directed him to violate the law: "I was surprised he was asking me to do something that I clearly cannot do." Not only did Ferguson make this request during a press conference, but his attorney put it in writing. Here is the pertinent portion of a May 13 letter to Hobbs. Hobbs told the @WAStateStandard today that a "first year law student" would have known this was against the law.

🧵Anti-Jewish animus strikes again. This morning just after midnight, the State House was set to vote on a bill that would improve Holocaust education in public schools. The bill had already passed unanimously out of committee, so no big deal. Right? RIGHT? Except Rep. Emily Alvarado (D) dropped an amendment out of nowhere that R's weren't prepared to debate on (very out of line with procedure). The amendment is an exercise in Holocaust whataboutism:

HAPPENING NOW: This woman just crossed out a page of voter signatures at the Issaquah Costco, which is a gross misdemeanor. This comes amid Democrat-backed effort to harass and intimidate Let’s Go WA signature gatherers (black marks mine to protect voter info).🧵

The signature gatherer tells me he chased the woman as she ran inside and hid behind a Costco employee. He admits that he shouted at her. Costco called Issaquah police … on the signature gatherers. 🧵

🧵If you need evidence of how truly insane government can be, look no further than this story from @seanrobinson1e4 of the @thenewstribune. Allow me to vent for a moment about some of the details ... thenewstribune.com/news/local/art… The state of Washington knowingly hired Mark James, a 22-time felon, to work with vulnerable patients at Western State Hospital. "Well," you might argue, "everyone deserves a second chance!" And I agree - however ...

The chief architect of Washington's controversial police pursuit law – @RepJesseJohnson – joined #unDivided for a lengthy discussion about crime and whether his bill had unintended consequences. WATCH: patreon.com/posts/un-divid… Johnson and I also discussed his criticism of those who have pushed back against the bill – including some Democrats.

THREAD: Seattle doesn't have enough detectives to investigate RAPES. To blame anyone other than Democrats is media malpractice. Even worse than that? The @SeattleTimes gave Progressives who are responsible for the police exodus a platform to complain about the lack of detectives like it's not their fault - I shit you not.

Classic victim mentality. Writer takes to Twitter to brag that he insulted @MrAndyNgo at a bar (because he's very mature). But when it turns out it *wasn't* actually Angy Ngo, he complains that *he's* the victim and not the random Asian dude he was an ass to in public? And anyone who points this out to @thor_benson, or suggests he should maybe apologize, is an Andy Ngo supporter who deserves to be blocked.

My evening entertainment. Panel on how media “fear mongering” led to losses for Progressive candidates in Seattle. They just said media was “deranged” over NTK tweets (as opposed to the tweets themselves being deranged). Should I take a shot every time they say my name? The Stranger’s Charles Mudede just said “I didn’t find anything offensive about her tweets in any way.” Keep in mind that NTK called cops serial killers and arsonists heroes.

‼️BREAKING: @SeattlePD confirms to me that as of right now, *354* sworn personnel have yet to submit proof of vaccination.

237 are in operations bureau (patrol)
117 other sworn

#FOX13 Earlier today, two SPD sources provided me with a different set of data that was distributed among SPD leadership today. I am not sharing it because a @SeattlePD spokesperson said the numbers in that dashboard weren’t quite right (although close).

New: State Supreme Court issues full ruling in decision not to allow recall of Seattle's mayor. Cites two recall limitations it finds relevant:

"First, an elected official is not subject to recall for the act of a subordinate done without the official’s knowledge or direction.” 2) "An official may be recalled for execution of discretionary acts only if the execution of that discretion is done ‘in a manifestly unreasonable manner,' which 'may be shown by demonstrating discretion was exercised for untenable grounds or for untenable reasons.'”

BREAKING: Recall effort of Seattle Councilwoman Kshama Sawant can proceed. Court finds 4 of 6 accusations brought forth represent "substantial conduct clearly amounting to misfeasance, malfeasance, or a violation of the oath of office" for which there is "no legal justification." Accusations deemed justification for recall:

-Sawant relinquished duties of office to outside political org
-Misused city resources
-Misused position by letting protesters into City Hall
-Led protest to mayor's house despite it being protected by a state program due to threats

I just got off a 40-minute phone conversation with Rep. Jenny Graham about this voicemail and the story that prompted it. A few takeaways in this thread. (1/5) She knows she screwed up. She calls it a “human” moment and says she’ll take whatever “comeuppance” might come. She said her words came from a place of hurt and rage over lived experiences with abuse and sex trafficking. Seattle Police Chief Carmen Best and Mayor Jenny Durkan are expected to speak at 11am. We will carry it live on #Q13FOX once it begins. I will tweet updates here. Chief Best: "For me personally this was a decision I wrestled with, but it was time."

BREAKING: Seattle Police Chief @CarmenBest is going to resign, two sources familiar with her decision confirm. The announcement is imminent, I'm told. There is an 11am presser scheduled for tomorrow with the Mayor. Unclear if announcement will take place then. (THREAD) #Q13FOX The Chief's decision comes as the @SeattleCouncil made a series of cuts to @SeattlePD's budget today, including forced layoffs of officers and cuts to pay for command staff.

THREAD: In March, Washington Attorney General @BobFergusonAG's campaign sent out an email suggesting President Trump might try to delay the November election. In an interview with Ferguson, I laughed off his concerns. At the time, @WAGOP Chair @CalebHeimlich called on Ferguson to apologize, accusing him of fundraising off fear.

THREAD: This is going to be a long one. But I want to take a few minutes to point out some of the obvious moral and logical shortcomings at Seattle City Hall. If the press doesn't do it, then who will? #TheDivide #Q13FOX #SeattleProtest #SeattleRiots Let's start with Councilwoman @Lisa_Herbold, who only calls for peace in Seattle when it allows her to make a political point against the president.

People care a lot when police/agents injure reporters, and they should (Cc @ByMikeBaker). It would be nice to see politicians care just as much when rioters do it, which happens often in Seattle. Journalists should not be attacked or accosted for doing their jobs. I understand that police injuring reporters is particularly egregious given they work for the government. But Seattle gives a free pass to rioters who attack and accost media. Seattle leaders do this by fostering an environment that is accepting of this behavior.

Kent Mayor Dana Ralph: "I just got off the phone with Deputy King Co. Executive Rachel Smith, who has assured me that the King County jail in Seattle will not be closed resulting in a transfer of inmates or a population increase of inmates at their Kent facility." (1/3) "She did suggest the Seattle facility may change its model to a more therapeutic model, but that the physical location would remain in Seattle. She assured me the Kent facility would not see an increase in jail population, which I explained could lead to significant public..."

We can confirm letter is authentic. If King County actually closes downtown Seattle jail without doing anything meaningful to address repeat offender problem, then they’ll just be shipping the problem to Kent and playing catch and release from jail there. Deleted a previous tweet since we could confirm letter was valid.
