The Chicago Police Department has a long history of torturing false confessions out of people. There are hundreds of incarcerated survivors that we know about and many more whose stories have not yet been recognized. Our mission is to #FreeThemAll.
Survivors, families, and community orgs have fought for years to make Chicago recognize this systematic torture, but the city continues to deny justice to survivors by keeping them in prison and defunding the TIRC. Our demand to @GovPritzker: immediately release all survivors!
Our mission does not end there. Due to the covid-19 outbreak, ALL incarcerated people are at risk due to hazardous conditions in prison. As such, we demand a #MassReleaseNow from all prisons, jails, and detention centers.
