Updates from Monday's #StopPoliceCrimes meeting!
Read this thread to stay informed of what we're doing and how you can get involved.
The #FreeThemAll forum was on Saturday! It featured a moving film on torture in Chicago as well as a panel of survivors and organizers. You can watch the video here: facebook.com/caarpr/videos/…
Unfortunately @stacydavisgates was unable to attend the forum due to an emergency meeting. We still appreciate her support and the support of @CTULocal1 and we stand in solidarity with them in their fight to get resources and assistance to students during the pandemic.
Brian Ragsdale, @sonofsistahgal did an excellent job filling in on the panel! He is a leading member of the Chicago Alliance and a psychologist, and he brings a wealth of knowledge and empathy to his organizing work.
We need all hands on deck for the Campaign to Free incarcerated Survivors of police Torture (CFIST). If you would like to get involved, click on this link and fill out the form: bit.ly/cfistinterest.
This is an especially urgent fight due to the threat of covid-19 in prisons.
Keep calling elected officials! Especially @GovPritzker. If the governor's phone inbox is full, you can reach out here: www2.illinois.gov/sites/gov/cont…
We invited some elected officials to the forum and didn't get any responses, but luckily for them the film is still online and they are always welcome to stop sitting on their hands and start pushing for #MassReleaseNow. Call your representatives with the demand to #FreeThemAll!
Tamon Russell is still in need of a lawyer. Please donate to and share this gofundme to help him get one.

Innocent Demand Justice is holding a press conference today urging @SAKimFoxx to expedite the exonerations process for all Guevara victims due to the threat of covid-19. Foxx's office is conducting a review of all Guevara cases, which could lead to a mass exoneration.
We are still fighting for community control of the police. Call your alderperson and tell them that the people demand CPAC, not the watered down police "accountability" ordinance the mayor is pushing for. Read more about CPAC here: caarpr.org/stop-police-cr…
We need people to do phone banking for CPAC and CFIST! Contact Shasta Jones, shastaj0880@gmail.com if you would like to help make calls to mobilize people around the issue of community control of the police.
@NAARPR is calling for a national day of protest on May 30th. In Chicago, we will be organizing a car caravan downtown, and we look forward to the actions that will happen in other cities. Stay tuned for more details and save the date so you can get involved!
We're still accepting videos for the #FreeThemAll virtual protest! Click the link and record yourself chanting to add your voice to the demand for #massreleasenow
