From an AISH client:
“Hellberta, I’d like to ask you for help if you could ever be so kind. I’m a 45 year old woman with medical problems that landed me on AISH. Simply put I almost died due to at first being misdiagnosed but that is beside the point.”
“Before Covid19 hit Calgary my husband was working and I was on AISH. We had no problems or issues with anything. We paid our bills on time and we could afford groceries and our monthly date night out (we usually go to a local park and have a picnic and then go to a movie)”
“Then my husband lost his job and got laid off with no return date. My AISH worker told him to apply for CERB...so he did. My worker said that nothing would affect us that only a little bit would be taken off of my cheque.”
“Well that little nothing to her was the amount of $845.00.”
“What I am asking you for help with is we have no savings left because what little we had we used to buy groceries and buy masks and cleaning supplies because I am immune compromised as well.”
“We have exhausted all resources and contacted every possible group that we could think of for help. I saw on an earlier post that Harvest Hills Cares Calgary was a group that could help and they suggested that I contact you because of the work you do”
“If you could help me and my husband out with rent we would forever be in your debt. Harvest Hills Cares Calgary said that they would accept donations on our behalf and they would pay my landlord the money left owing on our rent directly”
“I can pay it forward when my husband gets back to work but even now I feel ashamed even asking for help. My rent is $1750 per month and we have my granddaughter and grandson living with us they are (13 & 15).”
Everyone: if you can help this woman and her husband Harvest Hills Cares Calgary has offered ti take donations on their behalf.
Etransfer’s can be sent to:

Before anyone asks I have seen proof of them contacting/emailing over 75 organizations/food banks/churches and other resources that have essentially told her that they can’t help due to the massive increase in requests for assistance.
She has also tried to work something out with her landlord but he too has four young children and relies on rent money to feed his own family.
We have raised $135.00 towards helping this woman and her family! Please keep up all the good work everyone is doing.
In the past half hour we have raised an additional $305.00 bringing our total to $440.00.
If we raise$1000.00 we have a private donor that is willing to match the final donation amount!
#Canada #Charity #HelpYourNeighbor #donate #Support #BeKind
The total donated to her will be $2000. For anyone who asks it won’t affect her AISH b/c someone is paying her rent directly At no point will the donations be in her bank account or go 2 her in cash Because if it were to go directly to her she would have to claim it to her worker
