The real pandemic in Zimbabwe is toxic politics of power struggles whose only result is to delay societal progress since independence. In their lust for retaining power, toxic politicians delay meritorious appointments to office, in the process holding up economic development.
Thus Mugabe kept the Malungas, Zvogbos & Ushewokunzes from ascending, played games with VPs with never an eye on the economy. The masses were entertained by political gossip instead of being alert to the rogue driving leading us to the abyss. Our country started to slowly decay
Power struggles are contagious, it seems. Opposition parties went through split after split, delaying the politics of change for the better. MPs & councillors seduced by luxury cars & overseas per diems focused not on electoral reform but demanding allowances & selling of stands
Consistent patterns of violence emerged every time a President of a party was threatened. Challengers or dissenters were beaten up, not in isolated incidents but every time a challenger arose. Again, not an eye on country's fortunes but lust for power. We keep denying our people
The masses share memes, gossip & comedy about the antics of those who lust for power but do not move the country forward. Not even an inch. Where is the outrage? The military coup was a fight between two ZanuPF factions, yet the masses cheered along. Why applaud your own demise?
Open your eyes & see the power struggles for what they really are. They are fighting to be part of the system, not to change it! Why attend the inauguration of a coup leader? Hoping for a piece of the pie? For who? Stop, think, evaluate & decide what you want once and for all!
Zimbabwe will be free when enough of us decide that we want our country to change so badly, that we choose a complete break from this circus the past. Stop being cheerleaders to your own demise. Start building towards sustainable change, progress & prosperity. #FixTheFoundation
