Time for an introduction:
My name is Julia (@JuliaVSeidel) and I'm a German PhD candidate in my last year at the University of Geneva 🇨🇭. Like @AstroRickman who was your host two weeks ago, I also work on exoplanets! Here I am at my fav telescope, @ESO's 3.6 m in Chile.
I work on the atmospheric characterisation of exoplanets, especially their wind patterns and if you want to know more about that, head to my profile, I pinned a video there on all the things I've been up to in the last few years science wise.
When I'm not working on my research, I do a fair share of #scicomm and try to make academia more accessible for underrepresented groups. So ask me anything about all of these topics!
This week, I want to get a bit into the science behind the biggest scicomm & outreach fail of my field: The continuous claim of the detection of "Earth 2.0" and what they actually mean. So stay tuned and don't pack your bags just yet to move to Earth 2.0! theguardian.com/science/2015/j…
I will talk about this subject all week, except when I will participate in #STRIKE4BLACKLIVES #STEMshutdown #AcademicShutdown on Wednesday, June 10. However, I have a small to-do list for you on Wednesday, so check into twitter anyway.
