In May 2018, Biden Foreign Policy's Jake Sullivan wrote about #Iran:
Sanctions are more effective when world is actively cooperating with US to pressure Iran, less effective when world is actively cooperating with Iran to frustrate US by looking for workarounds, dragging feet.
In May 2020, Jake Sullivan reversed himself, said:
Unilateral US withdrawal from the international accord and the reimposition of sanctions on Tehran proved the power of the US dollar and the US financial system.
So in May 2018, Biden's Sullivan said US unilateral sanctions on Iran won't work. In May 2020, Sullivan said US unilateral sanctions on Iran proved America's economic power. This is the man we are asked to give him the keys to draft US policy on Iran if Biden replaces Trump.
This is Foreign Policy, so bipartisanship aside, whoever wins the White House in November, can we make sure to get the Democrats a better team on foreign policy, especially on Iran. With all due respect to Sullivan, Malley, Rhodes, but they've been clueless all along. @JoeBiden
One more Jake Sullivan prediction on Iran that went wrong. In January 2020, he expected a war between the US and Iran. Like always on Iran, Sullivan was wrong. No war happened. US Deterrence v Iran was back.
