1/. As a campaigner, I know the importance of making clear what you’re FOR, rather than just what you’re AGAINST

It may seem obvious that if you’re "against" the needless deaths of tens of thousands, you’re "for" protecting lives

As always @devisridhar never loses sight of this

2/. @devisridhar is clear she's "for" honesty & transparency.

"Is the objective still to let #coronavirus flow through the population & just to stay within NHS capacity?" she asks.

If so, then the strategy to meet this objective would be #HerdImmunity.

3/. I'm here for the same reasons.

Not for political point scoring, finger pointing or for an inquiry in 2021.

Our country faces massive choices & everyone must do their jobs

Politicians need to need to lead, scientists need to guide & journalists need to hold them to account.

4/. #HerdImmunity requires 60% of the population to catch #COVID19.

One way to do that would be to lift the lockdown early & steer the country into a #2ndwave.

In this 1 June league table of "lockdown rollback readiness", the UK comes 192nd out of 195 bsg.ox.ac.uk/research/publi…

5/. The UK was given the biggest gift any country could have had in the circumstances: a 2-month head start.
Our govt squandered it on a high risk gamble called #herdimmunity.

And they’re still gambling.

With tens of thousands of our lives.

6/. The idea that 60% of the population will need to get #COVID19 in order to achieve #HerdImmunity is just that: an idea.

Other scientists say it is 70-80.%

It is highly possible that immunity might not occur at all.
