So far, my @LinkedIn post about @HBO Max pulling #GoneWithTheWind has received 8,600+ views & 145+ comments. linkedin.com/posts/twannahi… #popculture #SIE #SocialChange
As I wrote in one of my articles for @HuffPost more than a decade ago: Often, the most candid societal insights arrive under the guise of #PopCulture fluff.

Here's the thing about teaching, speaking, writing & performing one-woman theater shows about #SexualHealth and #HealthyRelationships for the past 15 years — I know abuse when I see it. I know passive-aggressiveness when I see it. And so on.
Or, as I often say: "If you ever find yourself fighting with your partner about toothpaste, chances are, the fight isn't really about toothpaste."
Back to #GoneWithTheWind ...
Folks who are angry in the comments of my #GoneWithTheWind @LinkedIn post are basically fighting with me about "toothpaste."

It's easier & more socially acceptable to say you're pissed off about @HBO Max yanking #GoneWithTheWind than it is to say you're pissed off about silencing the white supremacy depicted therein (and what that means for society in 2020).
If I engaged with them (which I won't), I'd coach them: Instead of performing / virtue signaling: "Oh. Mah. Gawd! But-but-but what about Hattie McDaniel?! She was the first African-American to earn #Oscars @TheAcademy!!" Try this ...
1. Watch Hattie McDaniel's speech at the 12th Annual #Oscars @TheAcademy.

2. Note Fay Bainter #Oscars @TheAcademy says: "It opens the doors of this room, moves back the walls & enables us to embrace the whole of usa; an 🇺🇸 that we love, an 🇺🇸 that ... recognizes and pays tribute to those who give her their best, regardless of creed, race, or color."
(The next tweet is the end of this thread because I need to prep for and jump on a work call.")
3. Ask yourself: "What am I, personally, actually doing — not just saying and tweeting — to make the world a better place, to create a 'more perfect Union' in 🇺🇸 today?"
