Lunchtime protest happening right now at Pacific Place. You never really know how many protesters actually showed up (and how many are just curious bystanders) until you hear them chant.
It’s one of the bigger lunchtime protests I’ve seen: the march has 50-100 participants.
This is the first time I’ve heard the popular #BlackLivesMatter chant “no justice, no peace” at the #HongKongProtests
March is now in Queensway mall. When these lunchtime mall protests happen, shop staff often watch and take photos but seldom show support. This time I saw a staff member at a skincare store show the “5 demands, not 1 less” hand sign
The march takes up the whole width of Queensway mall’s narrow walkway. Here they are chanting for Hong Kong independence.
At the beginning, I thought I had showed up early to the protest. I only realized that I was at the wrong end of the mall when a pre-recorded message started playing on repeat, warning people to leave bc assemblies are not allowed due to the coronavirus.
Glory to Hong Kong: harmonica edition
Wait wait wait! Glory to Hong Kong: acoustic harmonica edition!
When the crowd chanted “fuck your mothers, corrupt police”, this mom covered her young son’s ears. Cute but definitely futile.
Protest is over now. Very grateful it took place in AC — as some protesters pointed out on Telegram, we would have probably gotten heat stroke had it been outside. The next round of protests: 8pm tonight for the one-year anniversary of the police crackdown on protesters at LegCo
