THREAD: Ryan Fraser 🏴
Eddie Howe says he won't play want-away Fraser anymore. Fraser hasn't had many goals and assists this season, but that can be misleading. Here are his overall stats, with sky-high attacking output and slack defending in our models:
1/4
#AFCB #Cherries 🍒
We still rate Fraser as outstanding in ground duels in possession and also at finishing non-headers in open play, though he's only scored once this season. More importantly, he's been involved in 100% of #AFCB's moves ending in goals while playing LM! (at LW 42%, at RW 66%)
2/4
Using our "Search by club" Pro tool, we can see that the only other player in #AFCB's attack who comes close to being as pivotal as Fraser is Harry Wilson (when he plays):
3/4
And while it's true Fraser hasn't racked up the goals like last season, the main reason seems to be that he hasn't had as many opportunities, especially close to goal. That's probably not all his fault. Here are his shot maps for #AFCB in 2019-20 and 2018-19 at LM:
4/4
P.S. It's understandable that Howe wouldn't want to play Fraser on principle, and maybe Fraser's lack of goals makes it seem like no big deal. But Fraser is actually crucial to the #AFCB attack, and so this is a risky move for a club in the relegation zone. Good luck, #Cherries.
