A memorial to #AndresGuardado outside auto body shop by where he was fatally shot by a sheriff’s deputy last week. @LASDHQ says Guardado fled patrol officers on foot when they approached. His family says he was doing his job as a security guard, and disputes @LASDHQ account.

Family of #AndresGuardado has asked for a peaceful march for Father’s Day to the Compton sheriff’s station. This is his uncle Oscar Abarca.

Christopher Guardado, father of #AndresGuardado, thanks protesters in Spanish and English. His son was killed less than 72 hours ago. “I’m feeling really bad to talk, you know?”

Ron Gochez of @UniondelBarrio says he knows some protesters marching to @LASDHQ Compton station are “down to fight and I get it.”

But he asks for restraint on behalf of the family of #AndresGuardado.

At Compton and Central, near the halfway mark for the march for #AndresGuardado

Seeing signs asking 4 video footage of what happened to #AndresGuardado. @LASDHQ said yesterday they’ve seized 6 or 7 cameras from outside the building, says 2 had ports for SD cards but were empty. Says a search warrant out for web-based footage. @LASDHQ does not have body cams.

His take— saying deputies lick their masters’ boots

“No Más!”

Protesters go silent out of respect as mothers of men slain by law enforcement speak, including the mom of Alex Flores here:

About 25 deputies now in my sightline, including on roof. Protest organizers have said they’re leaving.

.@LASDHQ threw at least 2 flash bangs and tear gas

Just got teargassed. So did dozens others worse than me. I stood with protestwrs holding my press badge.

Spoke with protester Devin Sejaa of Lon Beach who got shot with an object in his right temple and abdomen. He says he’s former Marines. He explains what went down.

Protesters anticipating action by @LASDHQ. These 2 white women have been at the front since arriving at the station.

A white protester just tried crossing the barricade with no consequences. Someone shouts that wouldn’t have been ok if that’d been a Black man.

I think it’s over. Protesters leaving this post
