Minutes after Justice Arun Mishra said his bench would take up the Puri #RathYatra matter later today, lawyers have been informed by the judge that the #CJI will himself lead the bench. On June 18, CJI-led bench had issued the restraint order.

SG Tushar Mehta submits Jagatguru Shankaracharya & Gajapati Maharaja's suggestions are prudent and Yatra may be allowed to go on with certain conditions.

On a plea by the petitioner regarding number of sxevayats/devotees to be allowed for the #RathYatra, #CJI says #SupremeCourt won't micromanage it.

"We will leave it to the wisdom of the State, which may conduct it as per its guidelines."

We won't pass any detailed order but we are going to allow it in terms of the state government guidelines, #CJI tells SG Tushar Mehta while reiterating Central Govt has no role to play in #RathYatra.

Jagannath Temple Management Committee informs it is the body that holds Yatra

Sr adv Harish Salve, for Odisha Govt, tells #SupremeCourt that state will coordinate with the temple management committee as well as the Central Govt.

#CJI starts dictating the court order now.

As SG Tushar Mehta submits he will coordinate with Mr Salve, who appears for the #Odisha Govt, #CJI tells him: "Don't use these proceedings to coordinate with him. You can use your phone and can call him after this matter to coordinate."

SC order recalls its June 18 order and starts with a caution: "Clearly any spread of COVID19 due to this will be disastrous since large numbers are involved and it won't be possible to track everyone after they go back home."
