1] While the rest of the Zimbabwean community concentrates on issues of national importance, the bickering & dithering faction of the MDC of Tsvangirai held a presser today
They have effectively halted their otherwise moot & academic EOC
Consequently, the MDC-T has died again!
2] According to their convenient interpretations, the Supreme Court Judgement did two things
It unscrambled the political egg & took a faction of the MDC-T out of the MDC-A & joined it with another one led by Dr Khupe
It then extended their terms of offices with just 3 months.
3] Away from the excitement of recalling MPs & pretending to reevaluate the 2017/18 ALLIANCE agreement, the extensions served 1 purpose
i.e. holding a EOC as should have happened post Tsvangirai.
Now that they've failed to do so, after 4 months, what happens to the extensions?
4] Amazingly, these MDC-T pretenders accused the organizers of #July31stDemo of hijacking their Congress dates
Douglas actually wanted the country to come to hault so that he could live his childhood dream of being called President Dougie
And now they have done a somersault!
5] The MDC-T EOC, moot & useless as it is, was DIFFICULT, not IMPOSSIBLE to hold
Had the authentic 2014 MDC-T office bearers met & agreed to implement the Sup Court ruling, they would have done so.
But because those using court authority were targeting power, they lost focus.
6] Instead of having a 4000+ people gathering, the MDC-T EOC could have been broken down
Votes could have been done at wards & Districts, in line with 50 people gatherings regulations
Results would have been tabulated & sent to a command center 4 verification & announcements.
7] But then it hasn't been smooth sailing
The majority of the 2014 office bearers have distanced themselves from this charade
So has strategic partners like ZCTU
Power fights have been the order of the day
They couldn't even dare call for a National Council meeting.
8] Let me CATEGORICALLY state that a EOC can only be run by specific individuals
If you go around replacing everyone & hiring newbies, it's effectively a Ordinary Congress.
This is a real MDC-T headache
They however will conveniently hide behind covid-19 national lockdown.
9] The BIG question now is, where to from here?
It's easy to guess that the courts will give them another extension.
But as of now, what is their identity?
Who is the Act President of the MDC-T since Dr Khupe was only given a dates specific 3 months?
Is the MDC-T dead again?
10] Where to from now?
Surely, he who swallows a whole coconut has complete faith in his rectum!
Will Dougie continue wielding his axe even before being "elected"?
Remember, Africa wisdom warns:
"He who eats the meat before the soup cannot handle greatness"
11] Which new mandate will they will use from #Aug1st?
With this ZanuPF paranoia induced lockdown, restrictions may persist till 2023
