Looks like Wichita County Clerk Lori Bohannon was on to something when she expressed concerns that expanded mail-in balloting could open the door to voter fraud.

#Texas election law requires that people under the age of 65 who vote by mail vote from out of their county on Election Day (military and college students, mostly), be disabled or otherwise be in jail awaiting trial and otherwise be eligible to vote. 2/5

Due to #COVID19, some campaigns and election organizations have been promoting the idea that fear of catching #COVID19 counts as a disability under Texas law. It doesn’t. If you can go to the grocery store safely, you can vote safely. 3/5

In Wichita Falls, the use of vote by mail expanded almost 10-fold from 2018 to 2020 for people under the age of 65. Of these voters in the 2020 primary, almost half were out of the county. But 33 voted from home who did not also vote in 2018. 4/5

Of these 33 voters under 65 who checked the “disability” box, 8 voters voted from a home-based mail forwarding service, meaning that they gave a false home address. I’ve contacted @clarke_shatanya at KFDX 3 News and hope she has time to look into this. 5/5
