What is so special abt this #Temple

Unique sculpture of Lord Kesava Swamy on the front & the graceful beauty of Jaganmohini on the rear side of the 5 foot high Saligrama,it is very beautiful.

#Stunning #sculpture - the majestic face of Kesava with four hands holding a conch,a discus in upper pair of hands & a mace,Mandhara mountain in the lower pair of hands.At the feet of the Lord,Goddess Ganga is seen -so water is seen flowing from feet of lord.

#sculpture - On the rear side of the sculpture you can see the hair in round bun form , the saree tied up and anklets
on the feet. All this is carved on a single stone.

#storytimethread - According to Puranas, Lord Vishnu assumed the form of Mohini when the gods and demons quarreled over claiming Amritha that emerged from the churning of the Milky sea.She cleverly distributed Amrith to gods & not the Asuras with her captivating charm.

Even Lord Shiva enthralled by her beauty pursued her.Suddenly a flower fell from her hair. When Shiva smelled that flower, He realized that the damsel was none other than Vishnu &felt ashamed of his conduct. The name of the place “Ryali” in Telugu which means “to fall.”

As per request of gods & sages Lord Vishnu stayed here as Kesava-Jaganmohini & Lord Shiva also dwelt there as Kamandaleswara with Devi Uma. The temples of Vishnu &Shiva are seen opposite each other facing east and west directions in Ryali.

This temple is believed to be first constructed by Raja Vikrama deva.Later it was renovated by many other.This temple is seen between 2 tributaries of River Godavari -Vasistha and Gautami.
