If you are doing a business that you couldn’t afford the regulator’s entry fees (or didn’t bother to register?) when it was still affordable, should you make noise when the fee is increased?
I don’t know. Just asking.
NIPOST is a key player and regulator in the courier business in Nigeria.
FGN needs to separate the regulatory functions of #NIPOST to a different body. You shouldn’t be a referee in a game you are competing in 🤷🏽♂️
NIPOST has just raised the #BarrierToEntry to restrict the number of its competitors 🤣.
This could create great opportunities for a new breed of entrepreneurs. The risk is that the “goal post” could be shifted anytime by #NIPOST 😁
In Kenya, the lowest class of license is Ksh 30,000 (about N120,000 or 0.4% of annual revenue, whichever is higher).
It’s not free.
In Ghana, you risk getting a 3-year prison term for running a courier business without license.
Most of the small courier operators that are crying about the #NIPOST increase in charges has never been to any meeting organized by the Association of Nigeria Courier Operators (ANCO) before....and that’s if they know the organisation existed prior to this week.
Guess what? It appears that “legitimate” courier operators under the Association of Nigeria Courier Operators (ANCO) might not be unaware of the plans for this increase 🤣🤷🏽♂️.
