On education, the FGN needs to grant full autonomy to the schools, issue clear KPIs (admission, teaching, research, infrastructure quality, graduates’ placement rates), and then regulate.

Let me attempt to answer @ItsChristy__ ‘s question 😁

#Thread #EducationReform #education First, let’s be clear - I won’t disagree with @ItsChristy__ on government’s inefficiency and pervasive corruption.

My position is that we can’t continue to do the same thing over and over, and expect a different result. That’s insanity!

Janet (name disguised), one of my mentees, was sacked last week with practically zero notice period. I was angry.

I read her employment letter when she got the job and I thought I knew the content.

I didn't realize she went back to renegotiate one of the clauses.

#Thread #WO Apparently, she went back to negotiate the termination clause.

The company had a policy that termination or resignation required 4-weeks notice with no payment-in-lieu.

She didn't like it. It limits her flexibility to switch to a new job if such an opportunity comes.

I remember one “smart” guy who got a $4K per month job in CA and was so excited that they processed work visa for him.

I told him the salary would make him worse than the N500K he was earning in Lagos. He thought I was stupid.

It didn’t take long before he realized.

#Thread How will $4k ($4,000 x N420 = N1,680,000) not be better than 500k in Lagos?

Thanks Prof @yomitheprof for this article. While your conclusions are not aligned with my views on this topic, I believe that most of the arguments are logical and fair.

I believe that some of the issues raised should drive the discussion for the first amendment to #CAMA2020 😁 My view points are already shared in this article here - businessday.ng/opinion/articl…

Agriculture (note that I didn’t say farming) is a good business.

There are so many parts of the agrifood value chain.

Yes, people are making millions. But, many are making losses.

It depends on where and how you are playing out your strategy. I don’t believe that Nigeria is underproducing - especially for most of our food products (crops and livestock’s).

For me, the challenge is from the harvesting stage and from the farmgate.

I have gotten a few messages assuming that I was part of the @officialNESG team that developed the 15-paragraph publication on the matters that require urgent attention.

While I fully endorse ALL the points raised in that publication, I am not a member of NESG. Apparently because of my comments on social media and in 3 online events during the week, some of my friends believed that I was too sympathetic to the @officialNESG publication and that I must have been part of it.

Technically, they have classified me as a #Wailing Nigerians🤣

Human beings are usually not rational.

So, don’t be surprised or disappointed when a jobless person is contributing N10,000+ (his or her entire savings) towards a $100K #GoFundMe for someone that is penalized for a bad behavior. Yes, that person might never contribute to any cause to help a dying friend or relative (that they know), but the euphoria of the moment would make them contribute to a hype for someone they got to know on a show that is still less than one month running.

This tweet from @ToyosiGodwin summarizes a major problem in the Nigerian system in recent times.

Nobody should be looked down upon or embarrassed because of their current stage of their “financial life”. It’s a journey. This is why some people are pushed into fraudulent activities or prostitution (including the modern used version) just to keep up with the gram.

This is why I didn’t like economics in my early life.

I had to read thrice to understand ALL that is written in a single tweet.

Let me gist you about my story and economics.

Grab #GarriIjebu 😁 and groundnut.

#Thread Let’s go. It’s great to be here instead of going to read over 100 messages (just from the last 3 days) in my DM. But errrrmmmm....that’s not going to be today. 😁😁😁. Even Jesus Christ rested.

For those who claim that there is no government oversight for University endowment funds (such as Harvard), here is a summary of the Attorney General’s powers on such entities. Image You can also read more here - adlercolvin.com/wp-content/upl…

Let me provide additional refresher on the #CAMA2020 issues.

It is because of the PUBLIC benefit from charities that made governments to grant tax exemption to charities. You cannot get the tax waivers and at the same time reject the conditions that is attached to the tax waivers (for the organization).

I am pro-deregulation. E get why.

But let’s first explain what deregulation means to the people who are missing it up and getting confused. Image Deregulation is the reduction or elimination of government power in a particular industry, usually enacted to create more competition within the industry.

When an industry is deregulated, government hands off its control of the market dynamics (especially pricing).

I think it is time for people to escalate the @etxng scam to the appropriate agencies such as @fccpcnigeria and @ServicomOffice .

#ETXNG The ETX-NG is a private organization that is supposed to help graduates to retrieve their transcripts from Nigerian public universities, but #ETXNG made the process to be worse.

In political strategy literature, a politician is typically anyone that has contested any election (won or lost) AND/OR anyone who is a member of a ruling or opposition political party (irrespective of whether or not the person has any designation in the party) 😁

#WO #CPS 1/5 However, in anti-money laundering (AML) world, a politically exposed person (PEP) is an individual with a high profile political role, or who has been entrusted with a prominent public function.

The above means that a PEP might not necessarily be a politician.

I am thinking of buying a Benz G63 AMG but the price is high. Can FG help me order Benz Place to reverse prices to their 2015 prices?

FG can increase fuel prices and VAT, but it’s not okay for Multichoice to increase #DSTV prices? It’s okay. 🤣 Sebi @NTANewsNow is supposed to be competing with @CNN based on Lai Mohammed’s plan? Why are we still bothered about the prices of @MultiChoiceGRP’s DSTV? 🤷🏽‍♂️

Hey! I just won a free lunch from a friend 🤣🤣🍾.

I told him that FGN would reopen international flights before September 1 and he said it was not possible due to the rising #COVID19 cases in the country.

I know their children are resuming back to foreign school in September. The “official” closure of the international airport (not that it was really really closed though) was delayed for a few days (after the initial announcement) to allow their child(ren) return to Nigeria before it started.

The children needs to go back to school 🏫.

It is okay.

This is @akin_adesina - clear vision, clear execution. If you have lived anywhere in Africa before, you'll agree with @akin_adesina that infrastructural gap is a major issue across Africa.

The forces behind this #NIPOST License fees increase are not few.

I think one of the issues that we (Nigeria) needs to decide is whether we are a socialist country or a capitalist country. Some big $ investments died recently in the logistics sector. One of the real causes of death was a regulation that sort of packed them along with the fragmented players in the industry.

If you are doing a business that you couldn’t afford the regulator’s entry fees (or didn’t bother to register?) when it was still affordable, should you make noise when the fee is increased?

I don’t know. Just asking. NIPOST is a key player and regulator in the courier business in Nigeria.

FGN needs to separate the regulatory functions of #NIPOST to a different body. You shouldn’t be a referee in a game you are competing in 🤷🏽‍♂️

There are many agricultural investment platforms in Nigeria.

Some may be outright FRAUD. Some may have genuine intentions.

But, is there any legal framework that protects your investment? 🤷🏽‍♂️🙄

You pushed all your savings into it and they are now silent 🤔.

It’s ok. It’s ok 😭 There are even some that can’t take you to any farm. They are using your money to do LPO financing. It’s not all of them that used your money to travel to #Santorini 🤣
