Threw these at my #Retroverse players the other night. It was a hell of a battle and they were very nearly slaughtered. They finally reigned victorious and it took the whole session for one of the players to finally figure out what they were fighting. #DnD #DireEmAll
It started with only one and I just kept whistling the Jigglypuff theme slowly and a little lower every time they got distracted. Once they killed the first, I started hum-whistling to mimic a chorus of them. Then called for a 15 minute break for them to freak out a bit. 😂
They ended up killing the three by some harsh combat and one of them finding a “space sedan” (they were in a ship graveyard) with functioning blasters. There was a Shiny Dire Jigglypuff in there as well and they were NOT prepared for its tri-attack.
The Synthweaver started playing Sweet Victory on his xylobones (Restless) and used his turns to drown out the whistling. Very smart move that made all the radical teens watching from afar start cheering. It did make him the primary target though...
In the end, the Restless used the Final Stand cliche and an ally used the Noooooo cliche once they fell, turning the tide of the battle at the last moment.
The space sedan just blasted one back. The pilot (Trog) ate the last as it tried to attack them, ending combat. Fun game!
A good chunk of my games are dedicated to letting the party go explore their characters, especially in what they do in combat. Sometimes it means a small encounter takes all night, sometimes it means we barely roll. Either way it’s always fun.
Really glad y’all enjoy these so much. @LluisAbadias is the artist on these (follow them)! We’ve made a ton of them under the #DireEmAll tag. Here’s some of my favorites.
