Darshan of rear side of Shiva linga in this temple as Sundareswarar & Meenakshi are seen performing Shiva Puja sitting westwards .
Shiva as Sundareswarar wedded Devi Meenakshi, daughter of Malayadwaja Pandya.He was destined to rule as the king of Madurai.

As a rule,Shiva Puja should be performed before assuming any responsible & high positions.So, they installed a shivlinga & performed the puja,also we see Bhagwan Shiva & Shakthi sculpture at the back of the Lingam in the form of worshipping, which is rare to see.
