Delighted to get the awards given away to the best performing cities/ States in Swachh Mahotsav, #SwachhSurvekshan2020 Award Ceremony organised today.
Heartiest congratulations to the Swachhata Champions & citizens of the 129 winner cities/ States!

5th edition of the world’s largest cleanliness survey was organised from 4-31 January 2020 for 4,242 cities, including 62 Cantonment Boards.
Special survey was done for 97 Ganga towns.

Keeping in mind the Ministry’s efforts towards ensuring sustainability of the sanitation value chain, SS-2020 focused on waste water treatment & its reuse, along with faecal sludge treatment. Legacy waste management & remediation of landfills were also kept in focus.

The survey team visited over 58,000 residential & over 20,000 commercial
areas covering over 64,000 wards – all in 28 days. This year, a whopping 1.87 crore distinct citizens shared their feedbacks in a bid to help their cities win the Swachhata crown!

Social media recorded an overall reach/ impressions of over 11.2 crores! These numbers bear testimony to the ‘Jan Andolan’ that the Swachh Bharat Mission- Urban has been able to create.

Under SBM-U, we have focussed on mainstreaming informal waste pickers, providing social security benefits & safety gears to all sanitation workers, welfare of sanitation workers &
their families.

I congratulate all the cities/ States on winning SS-2020 Awards & becoming models for other cities/ States to climb up the ladder of #Swachhata in the coming Swachh Survekshan-2021.

My best wishes to all!
