I think #grief is so critical to acknowledge for those who have #chronicpain and/or #chronicdisease. It’s just not the #patient but the entire family. Sometimes inds with these conditions as well as families benefit from therapy. I think it is also of utmost 1/
that you work with therapist that understands not only #grief but #chronicillness & #chronicdisease. For me & my kids two experiences cumulatively really brought this home for us. When my kids went to the #painclinic this wasn’t acknowledged because if you did what you needed 2/
if you did the ‘work’ you could manage and control pain thus not having it impact your life. Very damaging. The second experience was a pivotal moment in the therapists office with my son. My son often talked about his concern about two issues. I kept telling him 3/
no these things were not going to happen that things would be ‘fine’. The therapist pretty much pulled me in & indicates that my son may be right with his health issues on these issues & by not acknowledging, not knowing him to address fear and #grief. She was right 4/
but selfishly as a parent you want to believe that your kids won’t suffer..... #Grief so needs to be addressed particularly for kids, for all but I truly believe for kids so critical 5/
