In 2016 when we attempted police reform there was a critical vote and Tara Wicker abstained from several votes to reform the police department. It lead to those issues being deferred until after the 2016 elections, the council ended up not approving a single reform to the police

department, in part because of Wickers votes or lack thereof. Then they created a group that has no power to be “ambassadors” for the department.

In 2018 there was a vacancy on the council. For the first time in HISTORY there was an opportunity to balance the Metro Council

here in Baton Rouge. Wicker went with “council tradition” against the overwhelming will of the Black community to send the vacancy appointment to the governor instead of allowing a bias council to decide. Tara Wicker voted against the majority of voices that appeared that night,

and against the Black elected officials that asked her to be in solidarity with her community. Wicker followed “her conscious.”

I find it not only ironic, but justice that she was ejected from the race for Mayor-President for not filing her 2016 and 2018 taxes of all the years.

The same years she took votes against her people.

Now I told you all back in 2018 I wouldn’t vote for Wicker for Dog Catcher or Usher Board #2 because I felt she betrayed our people. So my position was clear out the gate. I wasn’t going to do anything against her,

but I would never have supported her for Mayor.

What I think isn’t always clear to some of US is, you can betray your community if you choose. You can even think you know better than the people,

but political leadership isn’t about politicians doing what their “conscious” tells them to do, but to hear THE PEOPLE.

Let this be a lesson, You may be able to sell Black people out, but you can’t buy them back.

I’ve learned to #KeepPushing, and if you sit by the river long enough some form of justice will roll down stream. This isn’t rejoicing in her being ejected — just letting you know justice is coming. #ChangeIsComing My memory is long, because this fight is one of endurance.
