Albert, Whomever advised the Dems on their stance on Portland et al. wasn't clear enough in saying that once taken, the stance was permanent: reversing course would lose more votes for more time.

You can only solve this quickly enough before the vote with force on force. Thst would mean getting Dem representatives ASKING for Federal support in addition to extended application of the "Broken windows" policy. Let's call it "the Surge". 😉 (2)

That would cost the heads and political career of most of those involved, and it won't happen since the Dem party doesn't have that kind of candidate. Joe #Biden is NOT the leader of the party, as he so clearly signaled by a big missed call. (3)

When #Pelosi said that she would like to skip the debate stage because it's "skulduggery", he should have promptly appeared at a presser saying: "all due respect to the Speaker, but I will be the one deciding on that issue".
Same end effect, good optics. He did not. (4)

That "surge " option is not off the table tough, under some conditions: suppose #Trump wins by a bigger margin than Albert thinks right now, and there are upsets in Seats due to vote in 2022. You can't pivot in 1 month, but you can in an year.

One added note: it would be EXTREMELY hard. See exhibit A.
