Two women have been indicted on hate crime charges after grabbing a 7-year-old boy’s “Make America Great Again” cap in front of his mother outside the Democratic National Convention in Delaware.
Olivia Winslow and Camryn Amy, both 21, were indicted by a grand jury Tuesday on felony charges of robbery, conspiracy and hate crimes, as well as a misdemeanor charge of endangering the welfare of a child.
Amy also was indicted on misdemeanor charges of assaulting a man who tried to recover the cap, attempting to assault the boy’s mom and offensive touching of the child.
The women are accused of committing the crimes “for the purpose of interfering with the victim’s free exercise or enjoyment of any right, privilege or immunity protected by the First Amendment to the US Constitution...
or committed said crime because the victim had exercised or enjoyed said right or rights,” according to the indictment.
