Anyone else pick up on the fact that in the #Dune trailer Paul uses the word "crusade," whereas in the book the word of choice is "jihad"?
I fully expected them to do this anyway. The term has gained a ton of political and emotional baggage since the book was written, plus it wasn't even talking about Islam in the book. The Fremen language just has a ton of Arabic words in it and probably derived from it initially.
It shouldn't annoy you, especially since the jihad in Dune is righteous, not evil. It's not like they were trying to tidy up offense. The "Arabs" are the good guys in Dune.
People who are afraid Dune will be woke - Dune will definitely be woke. Because it'll faithfully adapt the book, which is about Imperialism, colonialism, and racism with extremely obvious allusions to the West's thirst for Arabian oil.
Also this was poorly worded. Paul obviously wants to avoid the jihad, but it just isn't jihad in the sense that we use it now. The Butlerian jihad is also called that in this universe.
