NEW THIS AM from @CBSNewsPoll: @JoeBiden leads @realDonaldTrump among *likely* voters in Arizona and Minnesota:
IN ARIZONA... The president still has solid support from Republicans. They think he headed off an even-worse outbreak; that his policies are helping the economy recover and that it can recover even if the virus isn't contained.
And in Arizona, the president is up overall among those who call the economy an important factor; he's narrowly up over Biden on handling the economy, generally, and manufacturing, specifically.
Just 18% of Arizona's voters feel confident about the country today; 26% say they’re optimistic; 10% say they feel "secure," and all of that looks like headwinds for an incumbent, even one with relatively good economic marks against his opponent.
How is @JoeBiden pulling ahead in Arizona? More White women have shifted his way since July. And Biden enjoys a double-digit advantage over Trump with White women with a college degree. 62% of Latinos are backing Biden, similar to the level of support @HillaryClinton got in 2016.
IN MINNESOTA... @JoeBiden has a 9-point lead, backed by improvement over 2016 with college-degree holding voters, particularly college-educated White women. He’s 13 points better than @HillaryClinton's was in 2016 and closer to what D’s got in the 2018 midterms.
Among White, non-college voters who helped Trump keep it close in ‘16, they think he'd be better on energy exploration, manufacturing, agriculture, farming. They believe Biden pays more attention to concerns of Black voters than to those of Whites.
3 months after death of George Floyd sparked protests, more than 1/2 of Minnesota voters say they agree with ideas expressed by the Black Lives Matters movement. That's similar to how voters feel nationwide.
Majorities say recent protests will be a major factor in their vote for president, but while most Minnesota voters think there need to be police reforms, just over 1/2 of R’s think the police and law enforcement should be used to punish protesters.
OVERALL, @JoeBiden maintains a leads in the Electoral College, according to @cbsnewspoll/@CBSPolitics forecast: cbsnews.com/2020-us-electi…
