The DNC rejected both #MedicareForAll bills currently pending before the House and Senate, respectively.

Instead, it insists on a "public option", for which no sitting congressperson has written or sponsored a bill.

Wonder why?

The 2020 DNC Platform says:

"The public option . . . will be administered by CMS, not private companies; and will cover all primary care without any co-payments and control costs for other treatments . . . ."

You might notice that, like current Medicare, the fantasy "public option" supported by the DNC won't cover prescriptions, dental, hearing, mental health, or long term care.

You'll have to buy that from private insurers, just as current Medicare patients do.

Of course, private insurers will know that you're under Medicare age and that you're buying to supplement a government public option plan.

They'll want to recoup that loss. Accordingly, they'll charge you more for that coverage to make up their loss on primary care plans.

Your total bill will be as much as - if not more than - what you'll pay for full coverage from an insurance company.

That's a possible reason that no Democrat has submitted a bill for an ACA "public option".

Another is that none of them want to piss off their donors.

I forgot to mention that "primary care", as defined under the ACA, is limited to office visits, ER/urgent care, and nursing care.

It does not include inpatient hospitalization or specialist care, such as surgery, transplants, or rehab.
