Very grim again. It is official: we are in the third wave which even according to the officials was mainly due to Ashura ceremonies. The numbers are exploding across the country. All metrics shooting up.
So if you remember we were on the downslope of the 2nd wave for 2-3 weeks and now we are back on the next wave.
Medical officials in Tehran are now saying COVID visits to the hospitals are now suddenly gone up 2-3 times.
Dr. Namaki, the Health Minister confirmed this 3rd wave is due to Ashura ceremonies.
The holy city of Qom (1.2M), the original epicentre, is now back at it again and the schools have been closed.
The number of currently hospitalised patients has jumped to 568 from <400 just a week ago.
Again a number of MPs are down with COVID and one is in the hospital with respiratory problems.
Number of daily hospitalised cases in Tehran (9M) is now at 720 jumping from 534 just two days ago. The highest number I remember was just over 800 during the peak of the 2nd wave.

Meanwhile opening of the schools has just complicated the matter:
