I’ve been in frequent communication with our friends from @alabamapower & @powersouth. They hope to get their crews out today. Yesterday’s weather made it almost impossible to do anything more than provide power to hospitals, water systems & the like. #alwx #alpolitics

While most storms seem to downgrade upon landfall, #Sally upgraded to a Category 2 when her eye moved over Gulf Shores & Ft. Morgan. Many locals have said this was the slowest moving storm – with perhaps the biggest impact – we’ve ever seen. #alwx #alpolitics

As the water continues to recede, which may take a few days, we’ll see a more accurate report on the level of devastation. I’m grateful to the first responders, lineman, @AlabamaNG, Marine Police, Troopers, local police & sheriff’s deputies & countless others. #alwx #alpolitics

Please remember only call 911 if you are facing life threatening circumstances. Don’t drive through standing water. The best thing for people to do right now is to remain home until we have adequate time to clean up the debris along the roads and restore power. #alwx #alpolitics
