We are now having a legal discussion if the witness should have to appear at all.
The US government side says it needs to cross-examine the witness as there is one part of his evidence, that American pressure on the German government over his case was revealed by Wikileaks, they cannot accept.
US government says that the defence could just put the relevant leaked cables into evidence rather than call the witness.

Judge says that she has no intention of making a judgment on the alleged American pressure on the German government, both sides then accept the evidence can be read so the witness will not be called.
Court adjourns so the defence can consult Mr Assange for instructions.
The text of the exchange between Assange and the judge I mentioned earlier.
Assange “Madam I will not accept you censoring a torture victim’s statement to this court.”
Judge, “You are well represented.”
Assange, "I’ve tried to convey those instructions."
