Sunday fantasy novel writing progress #amwriting
I'm almost 100% the chapter I wrote today will need some major reworking in a near future draft, but right now the bargain I'm making with myself into just get the *whole* story down on paper instead of letting myself get stuck and not finishing.
I do have part of my brain that says "lol that's bullshittttt" but I'm like, "well at least it's bullshit you wrote down into a story."
I have an outline for this but it's so funny cause I wrote this outline like 2 years ago so it may as well have been written by a mysterious stranger. I've been thinking for months I was going to write a thriller and here I am nearly 1/5 into an "epic fantasy."
Just your standard "1,000+ years after a great cataclysm destroyed America, society is knocked into a sort of medieval world with a brand new dominant religion that may or may not be based on fragmentary memories of our modern world" story. Same old!
I've got "magic" but not "magic, magic" cause I'm actually not a big fan of traditional magic stories. But yet there's "magic." I suppose you'll have to read it.
There's also Kings and Queens and giant armies and battles and slaves and plantations. But on the American continent. Or what's left of it.
The app I use to track this stuff is called word keeper, fyi
I confess my favorite part of this is the religion I invented, which stems from the great cataclysm and is also connected to the sort of cult/church one of the key characters leads.
"The 48 Men held the Cleansing Flame."
Oh and here's Kal-El's contribution to today's word count. Moral support, I assume?
