Worsening by the day again if not by the hour. Considering 3rd wave started when 2nd wave has still some steam, I think it will be worse than both previous waves.
Authorities have admitted the main cause was the Ashura ceremonies.
Dr. Zali, the outspoken head of COVID Taskforce in Tehran has demanded for the return of lockdown in Tehran (9M) as the pace of rise of the cases is frightening in the capital. ERs (A&E) report three-fold increase in patients with COVID symptoms.

It is no news that there is a huge underreporting (and even "doctor"ing) of the numbers is going on but even by the official accounts there are 60 daily deaths in Tehran and authorities warn it could reach 600 if it goes this way.
One of the members of the National COVID Taskforce estimates that 20-30% of Iranians have had COVID so far.
Qom (1.2M), the original epicentre, is going through tougher and tougher days with the currently admitted cases constantly rising for the last 3 months but most noticeable over the last two weeks and now at 660. Max was ~900 during the 1st wave.
Khuzestan which had a tough 2nd wave, has now gone into the 3rd wave and status red.
Overall, the whole country and across almost all 31 provinces we are seeing the rising trend and "at the same time". While the 2nd wave was widespread, it peaked at different times in different provinces but this time it feels all "synchronised".
Why? Ashura ceremonies.
Not gonna take more of your time. Thanks for noting.
Leaving you with another short audio clip emerged from Navid Afkari's court processions. #NavidAfkari #injustice
