It is wet and raining, but protesters are at the Justice center tonight 9/23 because no one was charged with the death of #BreonnaTaylor.
There are 2-300 people out tonight.
Speaker: “None of us are surprised by what happened today”.
“Next week you could be out here for one of us, and I don’t want my name on a sign!”
“We are reimagining systems because they didn’t work. We don’t want a seat at the table we want to flip it”. We all know know that justice wasn’t served and we know that justice delayed is justice denied!”
“If this fire dies out we are still out here in our skin, and that can’t go away”
Speaker is talking about the intersection of the pandemic, unemployment, the looming eviction crisis and #BLM
Speaker: “when I went to DC and there was a march full of beautiful Black people and there were not any whites people there, what I saw was a lack of solidarity!”
More people are behind the justice center by the back doors
Speeches were happening at the back too, but now an “unlawful assembly has been declared”
Riot vans
I can’t tell if there were arrests in that push, lots of hitting and shoving
Protesters retreat to the park, police shot munitions into Chapman park
And then the riot van takes off
Sounds like the vans are back around the back along with a large crowd
No van around back, but I just noticed that the window was broken not sure from when
And apparently it is now a declared riot by PPB
The energy of the protesters is sooo much higher now then it was before the police came out

As I rounded the building there was a bright flash. People tell me that a Incendiary was thrown
Gas or smoke used
Naito to broadway Columbia to Harvey milk is closed
Officers stabbing the tires of a passing truck as they run up the road

While that was happening on broadway protesters are back by the justice center
Now DHS and marshals are pushing
Protesters are heading back in after a combined fed and PPB push to 405
There has been one threat from the PPB tonight of the LRAD crowd control capabilities being used. I have not heard it yet.
Protesters are scattered and PPB are just driving around stopping to just people on the sidewalk. I am surprised by how the energy of people is still so high even though there is the continuous sound of riot munitions being shot from the direction of the justice center

More PPB driving around, another group is walking past me chanting “Black lives matter! Heading back east
Protesters have returned to Chapman park and the justice center
And back behind the JC
There are over a hundred people scattered between the two parks playing music and talking
