Infrastructure is one of the powerful pillars of #AatmaNirbharBharat, envisioned by Hon’ble Prime Minister. It’s a matter of great pride that RRTS high speed, high frequency, high tech commuter trains are being manufactured by Bombardier(India) in tune with #MakeInIndia policy.
I was delighted to unveil the look of India’s first RRTS train today. The environment-friendly, energy-efficient trains will improve quality of life in National Capital Region, accelerate economic growth, decongest Delhi and open up new vistas of economic opportunities.
It will reduce air pollution, carbon footprint & accidents. The state-of-the-art rolling stock is first of its kind in India designed with maximum speed of 180 kmph. Trains will be lightweight, air-conditioned & safe.
Each car will have six automatic plug-in type wide doors, three on each side for ease of access & exit. Design of train’s nose has been inspired by New Delhi’s iconic Lotus Temple, which allows sustainable aerodynamics.
Equipped with modern amenities, the RRTS rolling stock will be unique amalgamation of new-age technology and India’s rich heritage. Prototype is scheduled to roll off production line in 2022.
First batch will arrive in March & commercial operation commence in December 2022 after rigorous testing & certification.
Entire rolling stock for Delhi-Meerut RRTS & Meerut Metro will be manufactured at Bombardier(India) Savli plant in Gujarat.
They got the order in Global Bidding Process. Manufacture of 100% trains & over 80% it’s components in value terms will be in India.
Foundation of 82 km long Delhi–Ghaziabad–Meerut Corridor, the first RRTS corridor in India was laid by Hon’ble PM on 8 March, 2019.
It will bring down the travel time between Delhi to Meerut to just 55 minutes with 14 stoppages on way and 35 minutes by Express Service. It takes 3-4 hours by road at present.
